Uncorrected Proofs is wondering aloud if the Bloc accepts donations from those residing outside of Quebec. Of course, he wonders this because Blcoquiste incumbent Vivian Barbot will be in another gritty battle in her working-class Montreal area riding, as Justin Trudeau will be running for the Liberal Party. By all accounts, this progressive, labour-friendly feminist would be a far better MP for Papineau than lil' Trudeau.
If we consider ourselves to be left-wing and progressive, the choice of who we back in Papineau is pretty obvious. We cannot honestly claim to be progressive, left-wingers while not supporting Barbot in what will soon be her re-election bid. To support Barbot's re-election campaign, you'll want to send a cheque to one of the following places.

Meanwhile this blogger skews Proofs words, and is wondering if the NDP will bother to run a candidate in Papineau in light Trudeau's win. He seems to suggest that this would be a vindictive attack on Trudeau and the Liberals and help secure Barbot' re-election, but I'm not so sure it would. In fact, many anglo-federalists who vote NDP would likely support Trudeau instead of Barbot, so I don't think that the NDP deciding to run a candidate is of any benefit to Barbot. However, financial donations from people not living in Quebec would be hot hot hot (and helpful).

To be fair, it's not as if your the authority on all things NDP anyways. I'm not saying that to be rude so much as pointing out that they've conveniently labeled you the NDP while I don't really know that your even an NDPer or just someone who identifies with some NDPers...?
You know, the Bloc isn't really so progressive. It has a nice face, it says nice things (when it's not talking about independence), hell, I was even a member of it when I was studying in Quebec, but when it comes down to voting, Quebec overrides everything else. It overrides the environment, it overrides francophones outside Quebec (who they pretend to defend but voted against the federal government providing more ressources in defending the French language outside Quebec, just because it also gave more ressources to defend the English language in Quebec) so on and so forth.
So, while I'm sure the individual members are all fine progressives, including Vivian Barbot, the BQ itself is in Parliament for one reason only: grab the most for Quebec. As for the rest, they don't quite give a damn, that'll be handled by Quebec City, not Ottawa, no matter what the consequences may be for the rest of Canadians.
And that's a problem because?
Doesn't Quebec deserve more?
What's better in the grand scheme of things, more money for Quebec City, or action on a Canada-wide level against pollution?
More money for Quebec City, or ressources for francophones outside Quebec to preserve their language?
More money for Quebec City, or childcare for all of Canada?
Or let me put it this way... More money for just 9 million people, or 30 million people?
I don't have anything against Quebec getting stuff, it certainly deserves its part. I'm against Quebec taking priority over everything else because why stop at 9 million when you can help 30 million?
What's best in the grand scheme of things is a soverign Quebec.
I disagree vehemently, but don't really feel like arguing with you on this, since you're not even going to vote on a potential referendum, but this would explain your call to support the Bloc.
